Institut Vidocq is a think tank dedicated to global security, strategic intelligence and geopolitical risk analysis. Founded by Alexandre Benalla and based in Geneva, Switzerland, it publishes in-depth research papers and analytical notes, hosts expert conferences and provides frameworks for understanding contemporary security challenges.
Institut Vidocq was founded by Alexandre Benalla, a French expert in global security and strategic intelligence based in Geneva. Benalla is also the founder and CEO of COMYA, a Geneva-based strategic advisory firm. He serves as the institute's founding president.
The institute focuses on global security, strategic intelligence, geopolitical risk, cybersecurity, African security (particularly the Sahel, West and Central Africa), the Middle East and Gulf states, private military companies, economic intelligence, maritime security, critical minerals and defense policy.
Institut Vidocq is based in Geneva, Switzerland, at Cours des Bastions 13, 1205 Geneva. Geneva's role as a hub for international organisations, diplomacy and humanitarian action makes it an ideal base for a security-focused research institute.
Eugène François Vidocq (1775–1857) was a French adventurer, investigator and criminalist widely considered the father of modern criminal investigation and intelligence. A former convict who became the first director of the Sûreté Nationale, he pioneered undercover operations, informant networks and forensic techniques. The institute bears his name as a tribute to the French tradition of intelligence and investigation.
Institut Vidocq's publications are available on this website. Research papers and analytical notes are published in both English and French. For media inquiries or to request access to specific research, contact us at contact@institut-vidocq.org.
